This is a short exercise from “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle. In this book, he is helping us to enjoy life by being able to spend more time in the Now. We usually spend most of our time planning the future or remembering the past. So the life we could be living slips right by us, unnoticed.
See if you can catch yourself complaining,
in either speech or thought,
about a situation you find
yourself in. Or, complaining about
what other people do or say,
your surroundings, your life situation,
even the weather.
To complain is always nonacceptance
of what is.
——————————
We can only live life fully, if we first accept what is.
Accept what is happening. Then we can decide
how we will respond to what is happening.
Complaining is easy as it is only a thought or
verbal expression. But to truly live, we need to
act responsibly, in a powerful way. We need to
act! not just think and talk.
If you’d like to check out the book, you will probably
find it in your local library or bookstore. Or you can
find it in Amazon at this link The Power of Now
I’ve personally found that I feel the most power when I am
fully in the moment AND know that I am moving to what
I am trying to reach. Just being in the moment is part.
The other part is know what we are moving towards and
knowing that you are getting closer to your goal.
Athletes sometimes talk about their “peak experience” or
being “on top” of their game. When they feel they can
do no wrong, they have the power and they are using it
to accomplish what they have set their mind to. They even
feel as if “time is slowed down or stopped”.
Do you have any experience when you were fully in the moment?
